Our Staff
Our dedicated faculty take a hands-on approach to teaching, and while our preceptors are approachable and enjoy open interaction, there's nothing casual about their attitude toward quality medicine and a challenging curriculum. But when the work day is finished, they plunge into a variety of pastimes or into serious relaxation in one of the most beautiful natural areas left in the world... the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!
Faculty
Our faculty physicians are all board certified and each bring unique strengths and interests to the program. As you'll see in the biographies of our faculty, the scope of interests outside of medicine is truly global, but our priorities center around our families. Life in Marquette is about balance, and we strive to structure the residency program so that our residents receive excellent education and achieve a semblance of balance as well.
The faculty meets weekly to discuss the operations and plans for the program, with the chief residents helping to make this a time for honest exchange of ideas, sharing and growth. Faculty work sessions serve to maintain the sense of shared purpose in setting long-range goals. The faculty, individually and collectively, have made a commitment to the program and community.

What I love about working at the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program?
I first began with the program in 2005 as an administrative secretary. Over that time,I enjoyed working with residents and faculty. Seeing residents grow both personally and professionally was a highlight of my job. Also seeing some of our own residents mature into faculty roles has been an added bonus. In 2017, I became the program coordinator which has allowed me to work even closer with the residents. Encouraging them in their medicine journey is something that brings me joy.

I enjoy tennis, running, tent camping, reading and classic cross country skiing. My other passion would be attending concerts! I love live music and seeing my favorite artists (Toby Mac) on stage.

Why I teach at Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program?
After seven years of practicing in rural Ironwood, it became clear to me that my favorite time of the year was when I had a medical student rotating with me. When I was asked to join the faculty, it was an awesome opportunity to mentor physicians just beginning their careers. The best part of my job is watching someone go from a nervous intern to a confident, competent, and compassionate physician. The Marquette Family Medicine Residency is a family which makes it all that much better!

What I love about living in Marquette, MI:
When I first moved to Marquette in 2010 I was fresh out of school in Chicago. I was in need of some fresh air and space, but what I found was so much more! I fell in love with a community of people that are so open and involved with our town that in many ways is still a hidden gem. Marquette has a small town feel while maintaining a huge selection of restaurants, sports, art, music, and so much more! There is never a lack of things to do and I, who had dreamed of living in the “Big City” my whole life, instantly settled into a beautiful life up North.
Hobbies/ What I do outside of work:
I enjoy mountain biking, bikepacking, swimming in Lake Superior, and snowshoeing or cross country skiing when the snow flies. My husband and I have also recently welcomed a baby boy into our lives which keeps us completely busy and abundantly happy!

There is no place in the world like the Upper Peninsula. There is always an adventure waiting to happen whether it is snowshoeing, hiking to see the Eben ice caves, visiting all the waterfalls and islands, laying on the gorgeous beaches of Lake Superior, hiking Hogback or climbing Sugarloaf Mountain. You will never regret getting outside and seeing all Marquette has to offer! Not only does Marquette have gorgeous scenery it also offers a wide variety of local shops as well as locally owned restaurants. The community in Marquette proudly promotes supporting its local businesses. If you are looking for a small town, feel with big city appeal Marquette is the place for you!
