Residency Program?
I chose to continue my training here after medical school because of the quality residency faculty that are motivated to teach aspiring full-spectrum family medicine physicians. The beautiful location along the shores of Lake Superior and friendly community of Marquette is also hard to beat. I hope to practice medicine in the Upper Peninsula long-term and contribute towards addressing rural health disparities that impact our communities.

Outside of work I like to cross country ski, mountain bike, and most of all spend time with my family, friends, and bernedoodle.

I chose the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program because it aligns with my goal of becoming a well-rounded Family Medicine physician in the Upper Peninsula. During my third and fourth years of medical school, I was based in Marquette and saw firsthand the strength of the program, the quality of teaching, and the supportive learning environment. My wife was born and raised in the U.P., and it has long been our goal to return—we both love living here, and it already feels like home. I’m excited to continue my training in a community I know and care about, while gaining the skills needed to serve the region with excellence and compassion.

Hobbies/what I do outside of work?
Outside of work, most of my time is spent with my wife, our son, and our dog—you can usually find the 4 of us exploring trails, beaches, and bike paths around Marquette. I also love watching sports and cooking.

I chose the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program because I am passionate about rural medicine. I fell in love with the area during my audition rotation as I got to swim in Lake Superior and explore all the hiking, and biking trails. But more importantly, I was humbled by the warmth and hospitality of faculty, residents, and fellow students as they went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of someone they had just met. There is a saying that ‘you become like those you surround yourself with’ and I knew this program would not only help me become an excellent physician, but bring out the best in me as a person.
