What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a team lead of patient access at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I have always wanted to work in healthcare. Patients come here on their worst days, it can make a huge difference having a smiling face to help lighten the mood. It is important for the patients to know that they are not in this alone.
What's a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
My day can be anything from registering patients, to assisting with billing questions to trying to coordinate meetings and staff!
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been working here since December 2023, and I started out registering labs at the Medical Center lab., In September 2024, I moved over to the Main Hospital because I wanted to learn more!
What are some of the big changes you've experienced in this position?
Being promoted to team lead was such a big accomplishment for me. I have also had the opportunity to be trained at the rehab facilities, the core lab, and all registration positions in the Emergency Department.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite gem?
Outside of work, you can find me hanging out with friends or traveling to Houghton to see my family! My favorite local gem has to be the top of the world look out, you can see for miles and the scenery is stunning.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I love seeing all of the friendly faces always willing to lend a helping hand, I am also surrounded by a great team with awesome mentors.
