UP Health System – Marquette Names Executive Director of Nursing

MARQUETTE, Mich. — June 5, 2025 — UP Health System – Marquette (UPHS – Marquette) has announced that Julie Nordberg, MSN, RN, CPPS, has been named executive director of nursing, effective May 25, 2025.
Nordberg has been a valued member of the UP Health System – Marquette team since 2015 and brings more than nine years of progressive nursing leadership experience within the organization. She most recently served as director of inpatient nursing services, where she oversaw multiple clinical departments and led quality improvement initiatives, staff development and operational efficiencies.
Her diverse background includes previous roles as director of quality and patient safety officer, director of inpatient nursing services, and director of the ICU and cardiac unit. Earlier in her career, she served as a clinical nurse educator, nurse manager of the medical and oncology unit, and bedside registered nurse in various critical care and medical-surgical units.
Nordberg’s strong foundation in both clinical and operational leadership, along with her commitment to evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness and staff engagement, has consistently improved patient care outcomes and team performance.
In her new role, Nordberg will oversee several key areas of inpatient care, including intensive care, intermediate care and cardiac units; the neurosciences, orthopedics and pediatrics unit; the medical-surgical unit; dialysis and inpatient rehabilitation services; as well as the float pool, clinical educators, diabetes wellness program and inpatient wound care.

Nordberg holds a Master of Science in nursing from Chamberlain University, a Master of Arts in education, and bachelor’s degrees in both nursing and elementary education from Northern Michigan University. She is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety and an active member of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.
