What is your role at UPHS?
I’m a patient processing clerk at UP Health System – Bell.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
A desire to help others. I’ve always found healthcare interesting and fun to learn about.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
A typical day involves registering patients for procedures, lab work and radiology orders. It’s a fast-paced and ever-changing field, which I really enjoy.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I’ve been here for one year in my current role.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
I haven’t experienced any major changes yet, but if and when they happen, I’ll be ready to roll with them.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love spending time and going on adventures with my husband, our 8-year-old son and our two dogs. Harlow Lake is my favorite local gem.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Bell?
Making a small difference in patients’ lives. That’s what motivates me. I also enjoy the fast pace of healthcare and how much it’s always evolving.
