Main Parking Lot Construction at UP Health System – Portage to Begin Monday, May 12
May 9, 2025

UP Health System – Portage (UPHS – Portage) will begin construction on its main parking lot starting Monday, May 12, 2025. This critical improvement project involves a full repaving of the lot and will be conducted in two phases to minimize disruption to patients, visitors and staff.
During the phased construction, half of the main parking lot will remain accessible at all times, ensuring that the hospital's main entrance remains fully operational. Clear signage and guidance will be provided on-site to direct traffic and help maintain smooth access for all hospital users.
“This investment in our infrastructure is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the overall experience at UPHS – Portage,” said Ryan Heinonen, CEO at UPHS – Portage. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we make these necessary upgrades to better serve our patients, visitors and team members.”
Please consider the following:
- Please respect the patient parking areas designated on the attached map.
- Staff parking is designated on the map, with periods of overflow expected.
- Staff will continue to park (angled) on campus drive, as well as in the other designated areas on the map (shown below).
