I took a circuitous route to getting into health care. My background is in biological sciences, and health care was not on my horizon with my first degree. After my own personal experiences with the health care system, I realized I wanted to take a more active role. I wanted to help impact the health and safety of others in a positive way. I chose a nursing career, which ultimately opened the door to the position I am in now.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare? I’ve always enjoyed helping people, so becoming a nurse seemed like the perfect fit. What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field? There is no “typical” day in my job, and that’s what I love about it. Each day challenges me in different ways and pushes me to be flexible and roll with whatever comes my way. I help train many new hires on our floor and enjoy being a helping hand to those who need me.
