What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a registered nurse (RN) on the Medical/Surgical Unit.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
My Aunt Lori is an RN here and inspired me to get into nursing. Growing up, I would always hear how she made a positive impact in her patients' lives and in our community; this made me want to do the same.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
A typical day on Med/Surg is very busy. We usually take care of up to six patients who are here for various general medical issues.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
In 2021, I started as a volunteer at UPHS – Marquette. Then, I was hired as a patient transporter, and I eventually got a job working as a unit clerk in the Emergency Department. This past May, I graduated from nursing school and started my career as an RN.
What are some of the big changes you've experienced in this position?
A big change was transitioning from a transporter and unit clerk to the role of RN. Everyone on the Med/Surg floor has been great with helping me transition!
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Outside of work, I like to travel, spend time with my friends and family and spend time outside! My favorite local gem in Marquette is Jilbert Dairy.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
My favorite part about working at UPHS – Marquette is the people. I have friends in several different departments and it makes coming to work more enjoyable.
