What is your role at UP Health System – Marquette?
I am the Manager of both the Clinic Business Operations and the Clinic Float Pool.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I have always enjoyed helping people and felt a career in healthcare would be a good fit for me. When I was young, I was a caregiver for my grandmother and that was a very rewarding experience.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
A typical day is usually busy with managing the multiple tasks I have, working with fellow co-workers, administrative work, keeping the Clinic Float Pool running, working on special projects as well as managing several programs that come with the job. It is very rewarding.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been employed for 32 years and I have had several positions, starting with working as a Transcriptionist, Patient Service Representative, Supervisor, Manager of multiple practices and working my way to the current position I hold.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
I have seen multiple changes from paper charts to Electronic Medical Records as well as continued improvements in getting the care to the patients where they need it. I have seen the advancement of technology and the improvements it brings when taking care of our patients.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love spending time with my family and friends as well as my horse and dogs. In the summertime, I love to kayak and spend most weekends relaxing while floating down the river. I love to read and go on adventures. Bond Falls is one of my favorite places to go.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I love the people I work with on a daily basis as well as those I work with on occasion. I get a lot of inspiration and wisdom from those around me and being part of a great team is awesome.
