What is your role at UPHS – Portage?
I am a Certified Nursing Assistant and Elder Associate at PortagePointe. 

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare — I always enjoyed learning how the body works and caring for people around the community. 

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field? 
A typical day for me is helping the residents with their needs, meals, visiting with them, and ensuring they are able to enjoy the full experience and benefits that PortagePointe has to offer. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position? 
I have been employed at PortagePointe for a year now — still in the same position as when I first started. 

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Some of the biggest changes I have experienced and realized is how much I love and appreciate taking care of others. Because of that, I am now pursuing a degree in nursing. 

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem? 
Outside of work I love to go hiking — one of my favorite spots is Mount Baldy. 

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Portage?
I enjoy all the people that I have met throughout working here at Portage. The connections, relationships and memories I have made with the residents are something I will never forget.
