What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am the MRI Supervisor at UP Health System – Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
My inspiration is the people you meet in the field of healthcare – both the patients and those I work with.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Every day and every patient is different. It’s our job to get quality images to help the healthcare teams diagnose and treat their patients. For some patients, the imaging machines can be an unfamiliar and even challenging experience. It takes an entire team to help guide patients through the process, especially if they are confused, in pain, or struggling to withstand the different positioning required by the imaging machines.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been employed in Imaging at UP Health System – Marquette for 22 years, with the last year and a half as the MRI Supervisor.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
A big change seen in MRI over the past several years is the advancement of implanted medical devices in our patients. Each implant has to be well researched before we can confirm that it’s safe for the patient to have an MRI.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love spending time with my friends. I enjoy being outdoors, running, and practicing yoga.

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
Making connections with our patients is what I love most, by providing comfort and sharing a smile. I also love being part of healthcare in the Upper Peninsula – creating quality images to help in diagnosing and improving the health of our region.
