What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a Charge Reconciliation Specialist for the Operating Room at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
Healthcare was always a career field that interested me. I enjoy helping people and learning new things.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
In the OR, we don’t have many typical days. As the Charge Reconciliation Specialist, I perform a lot of support duties to help the department run smoothly, like being a resource person for ordering supplies and equipment. When doing charges, I work with our vendors, purchasing, and Operating Room staff to ensure supplies are stocked and our records and bills are accurate.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been at the hospital for over 10 years and in the Operating Room for almost 8 years. I’ve been in my current position for about a year.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Aside from moving to the new facility, one of the biggest changes was moving to a new inventory management system and learning how to use it with our current charting system.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I enjoy traveling to visit family, spending time outdoors, and trying new things in the kitchen — when I’m not working on a house project.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I enjoy working with such an awesome team of people.
