UPHS – Bell Heroes | Lenora Olgren, RN, OB Unit Co-Director
September 28, 2020

What is your title and role at UPHS – Bell? Co-Director/Staff RN on OB.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position? I started at Bell in the Pediatric unit and worked there for 1 year prior to transferring to the OB unit. I have been with Bell for 27 years.
What does a typical day look like for you? As a staff nurse on OB, we do all aspects of care for the OB patient from triage, admission, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. We provide couplet care – taking care of both mom and baby. Every birth still amazes me, it is so awesome to share in the joy of the family and the birth of their child. I have been in the co-director role for the past 5 years. It has worked really well sharing the role with my great partner. It has been a learning process, but couldn’t ask for a better group of nurses/coworkers to manage and great physicians/NP’s to work with.
Tell us a little bit about your family. I have been married for 28 years to my best friend, Len. I have two daughters, Alexa and Jenna, and a Golden Retriever named Cooper.
What are some of your favorite hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I’m always happy when we can spend time out at our camp and explore our beautiful U.P. by walking, hiking, and biking.
What is your favorite local restaurant? I have too many favorites, The Casa, Stuckos, Portside, and Rice Paddy to name a few.
What is your favorite part about working for UPHS – Bell? I know it’s said a lot but for good reason, you can’t beat the family atmosphere at Bell. Every department at Bell works well together. And we have a very approachable/friendly Upper Management team. Our OB staff may be small but we are one big family. I love what I do and I truly love the people I get to do it with.
