What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a gastroenterologist in the Digestive and Liver Clinic at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I enjoyed studying biology and physiology early in my education and decided that helping people through delivering healthcare is the best way to find fulfillment and purpose in my career.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
My days are busy, but working in GI provides a good mix of clinical and procedural care, and inpatient and outpatient medicine. I work with wonderful people in Digestive and Liver, which makes the hard work enjoyable.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have worked for UPHS since August 2019 as a gastroenterologist.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
There is a tremendous need for medical and procedural care here in the UP, not only in GI, but in all specialties. We’re continuously working to provide better access to quality care with this goal in mind.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Outside of work, I spend time with my son, Grant, being outdoors and exploring. I enjoy all sports, but remain a loyal Minnesota Vikings fan, despite living in enemy territory.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
My coworkers, who work tirelessly for our patients.
