What is your role at UPHS – Bell?
I am a billing specialist in the Occupational Medicine Clinic.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
As long as I can remember I’ve been involved with healthcare. I enjoy helping people.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
My day varies usually between patient phone calls and occupational medicine questions. It can be stressful at times in billing, where tensions can be high.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been here 13 years. I started as a receptionist and three years ago came into billing.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Trying to explain insurance to our patients. You must have compassion and patience when talking with them.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Those who know me know that I love live music and entertaining. My favorite local gem is definitely my deck!
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Bell?
The feeling of family with coworkers.
