What is your role at UPHS – Portage?
I am a Clinic Administrative Coordinator and recently took on the additional role as Clinic Compliance Champion.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I’ve always been passionate about helping others, but there’s something extra rewarding about being able to help those who need it most.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Each day is different depending on the needs of the clinics and administrative suite. Some days are spent doing solo projects, and other days are spent in meetings and problem-solving in groups. I like that I’m able to work with many different people and provide support to clinics on- and off-site.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I started at UPHS – Portage on May 1 of this year. Although this is all still somewhat new to me, it was evident within the first few weeks of being here that I was at the right place. I started my career in healthcare in 2015 as a radiologic technologist.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Healthcare, in general, is ever changing — so although I haven’t been a part of any big changes yet, I know I will be in the future.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I spend as much time as possible with family and friends outside of work. We have a camp near the lake that becomes our second home in the summer.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Portage?
Everyone I’ve met and worked with has been so welcoming and encouraging from the first day I started. I’ve already learned so much from the knowledgeable and experienced staff here. I love that we celebrate big and small accomplishments and milestones.
