What is your role at UPHS?
I am a Cashier at the Bistro on Baraga at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I like to cheer people up and help make them feel better.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
My day starts quietly as I prepare to open the Bistro in the morning. And then the morning rush begins and we become very busy as the day goes on.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been working here for nearly two years now. I tried different positions, and cashiering is my calling. I love working here.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
There were many changes regarding food and patient safety during the pandemic and now we are returning to normal dining operations.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love to build jigsaw puzzles and enjoy weekend road trips in the summer. I enjoy the entire Upper Peninsula; it's just beautiful here.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I love the people here! I love to make them laugh and be happy.
