What is your role at UP Health System – Marquette?
I am a Clinic Office Clerk at UP Health System – Marquette Family Medicine.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I always knew I wanted to be in a position to help people and was curious about working in healthcare. I found a job posting that looked interesting, applied, and here I am—years later—helping patients navigate the healthcare system.
What is a typical day like for you working in this field?
No two days are the same. Whether it's working with patients directly after they have been seen for an appointment, answering patient phone calls or assisting one of our numerous providers, there is never a dull moment.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been employed by the hospital for seven years. I started working the night shift doing registration in the Emergency Department and then transitioned over to Marquette Family Medicine five years ago.
What are some of the significant changes you have experienced in this position?
About two years ago, we made the transition to a new electronic charting system to another while navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. The new system allowed us to offer TeleMed appointments to our patients, granting greater access to healthcare during a time of uncertainty.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy biking, snowshoeing and spending time with friends and family. Most recently I have taken up trying to improve my bowling game. One of my favorite local gems is Deer Lake. I am looking forward to getting out there and using my paddleboard this summer.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS–Marquette?
Working with the amazing team at Marquette Family Medicine! We all do our best to take care of each other and provide the best care for our patients.
