Amy Kilroy named UPHS – Marquette 2021 Mercy Award Recipient

UP Health System – Marquette recently announced Amy Kilroy, MPH, CIC, Infection Preventionist, has been recognized as the hospital’s 2021 Mercy Award Recipient. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touch the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

Amy’s expertise and teaching style have given us all confidence that we can safely care for our patients. Her competency was clearly demonstrated last January when she worked hard to acquire PPE in anticipation of COVID-19 hitting the United States. Her experience was invaluable, and she ensured that we were prepared and ready for what was about to happen.”

Amy has worked at UP Health System-Marquette for 5 years. She holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology degree and is certified in Infection Control. Amy is highly respected in our organization as she has forged extraordinary relationships with our providers and staff.

When Amy isn’t working, she can often be found enjoying time with her fiancé Chuck, their pets, creating stained glass art, and spending time outdoors. Amy and Chuck enjoy extreme camping in remote areas such as Isle Royale, being off the grid for up to 2 weeks at a time. She is passionate about the environment and can be found around town with her trash pick-up stick, doing her part to keep our town clean. Her love of the outdoors has even led to her bringing her cat kayaking. Outside in their yard, Amy and Chuck have constructed a lending library as another way to support the community.

Each hospital winner, including Amy, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2021 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced later this year and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tennesee, to which Amy and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
