UP Health System – Marquette welcomes emergency medicine physician John Mroz, MD

UP Health System – Marquette is pleased to welcome John Mroz, MD, to its team of emergency medicine physicians. Dr. Mroz brings extensive emergency medicine training, experience in trauma and emergency medical services, and a strong connection to the Upper Peninsula to his new role.

As an emergency medicine physician, Dr. Mroz is trained to care for patients with a wide range of urgent and life-threatening conditions, including traumatic injuries, cardiac emergencies, respiratory conditions, infections and other medical emergencies.

Dr. Mroz earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where he also completed the Leadership in Rural Medicine Certificate program. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Michigan, where he participated in the Quality Operations and Leadership Track and EMS Track. Prior to his residency at the University of Michigan, he completed a year of emergency medicine residency training at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital.

Dr. Mroz has a longstanding connection to the Upper Peninsula. During medical school, he completed the Leadership in Rural Medicine Certificate program in Marquette and participated in several community and volunteer activities, including providing medical support at the Iron Range Roll Bicycle Race, volunteering at a local COVID-19 vaccination clinic and mentoring pre-med students at Northern Michigan University and Michigan Technological University.

Dr. Mroz joins the team of experienced providers in the UP Health System – Marquette Emergency Department, located at 850 W. Baraga Ave. in Marquette.

As the federally designated Regional Referral Center for the Upper Peninsula, UP Health System – Marquette is a Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center and Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI. The hospital also houses the region’s only neonatal intensive care unit, providing specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns. These services are supported by state-of-the-art technology and highly skilled physicians, nurses and staff who provide care to patients throughout the Upper Peninsula.
