What is your role at UPHS – Bell?

I'm a registered nurse on the OB unit at UPHS – Bell.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

After high school, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to do something in healthcare. After evaluating my own strengths and interests and listening to the recommendations of those who know me best, I got the idea that I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse. 

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

A typical day in OB varies, involving caring for and supporting labor, delivery, postpartum, induction, C-section, newborn, and triage patients. Each day is different from the next in so many ways, but we always get to be there with our patients during such a life-changing moment in their lives. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

I have been employed here for just under three years, always in the same position. 

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?  

In 2024, I got to watch and support the RNs on my unit and in the hospital who came together to navigate a union contract.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem? 

Outside of work, my favorite activity is walking on the beaches and trails with my dog. I also enjoy gardening, traveling to see family and friends, and snowboarding in the winter. 

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Bell?

I work with the strongest and most supportive group of nurses on this unit, and it would not be the same without them. The size of our unit also allows us to give the best care possible to these patients.
