UP Health System – Marquette Cancer Center welcomes Cheryl Davison, MD

UP Health System – Marquette welcomes Cheryl Davison, MD, to the UP Health System – Marquette Cancer Center as a radiation oncologist.

Davison brings more than 30 years of experience in radiation oncology and expertise in advanced radiation treatment techniques, including 3D conformal radiation therapy, electron therapy, volumetric modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiotherapy.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, graduating summa cum laude from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. She went on to earn her medical degree from Michigan State University and completed an internal medicine internship at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids. She completed her radiation oncology residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, where she served as chief resident.

Davison has practiced in Michigan and Washington, including previously practicing at Marquette General Hospital and Great Lakes Radiation Oncology in Marquette. Most recently, she served as a radiation oncologist and medical director at Yakima Memorial Medical Center and Northstar Lodge Cancer Center in Yakima, Washington.

Her clinical experience includes treating breast, lung, head and neck, gastrointestinal, urologic and gynecologic cancers, as well as central nervous system tumors, metastatic disease and benign conditions.

“What makes this specialty so compelling is its ability to treat cancer with remarkable effectiveness while preserving healthy tissues,” Davison said. “The latest technology allows us to do this with extreme precision. It is fulfilling to offer this very effective treatment approach and work with patients to understand their diagnosis and treatment options, then decide together how to proceed.”

For Davison, returning to the Upper Peninsula also means returning home.

“My husband and I were born and raised in the UP. This is our home and we are happy to return,” she said. “We love the people here and the outdoors.”

Davison said she was drawn back to UP Health System – Marquette because of its dedicated staff and coordinated, supportive services.

Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, biking, hiking, cooking and home improvement.
