What is your role at UPHS – Bell?
I'm a registered nurse in the women’s care clinic at UP Health System – Bell (UPHS – Bell).
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I was exposed to different parts of healthcare while taking Health Occupations class in high school. I liked the endless opportunities and different patient populations that nursing would allow me to have.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
I room obstetrics and gynecology patients and prep them for their appointment with the provider, assist with in-office procedures, and triage patients over the phone. The nursing field is constantly changing and evolving. I’ve enjoyed working in Women’s Care where we get to focus on Women’s health at all ages.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I worked at UPHS - Marquette for over eight years and have now been at UPHS - Bell Women’s Care for almost two years. I have been in Women’s Care since starting at UPHS - Bell.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
We’ve had several process improvement changes within the clinic to help streamline things for patients and staff.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I enjoy spending time with family at our camp, riding our side-by-side, playing softball and hanging out with friends. My favorite local gem is Blackrocks Brewery but my husband and I always enjoy trying new breweries too!
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Bell?
I really enjoy my coworkers and how we’re all like-minded regarding patient care. We work well together to provide a safe, caring experience for our patients.
