HANCOCK, Mich. (June 2, 2026) — UP Medical Group – Portage Oncology has earned the Michigan Oncology Quality Consortium (MOQC) Excellence in Quality Certification, recognizing the practice's commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based cancer care to patients throughout the region.
The certification is awarded to oncology practices that meet rigorous standards for quality improvement and patient care. To earn the designation, practices undergo an extensive medical record review to ensure care aligns with evidence-based guidelines and participate in an on-site evaluation of processes related to the safe preparation and administration of chemotherapy.
Practices must also meet performance targets on quality measures established by MOQC's statewide network of oncologists, patients, caregivers and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. In addition, each certified practice develops and implements a quality improvement plan focused on addressing gaps in care and enhancing patient outcomes.
