What is your role at UPHS – Portage?
I'm a Human Resources Generalist.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I have been in healthcare for most of my career because I enjoy serving others and making a difference in the lives of patients.
What's a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
A typical day as an HR Generalist is fast-paced and people-focused. I help support employees and leaders with hiring, onboarding, benefits, staffing issues, policy questions and problem solving.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I joined Portage for this role in January of this year.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
No big changes so far, since I've been here for about four months. There has been a steep learning curve and I have enjoyed getting to know all of the employees here and understanding how I can support them.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I enjoy bird hunting with my boys and dog, Suvi, in the fall. We also love to go on local hikes. The local gem in the summer is Great Sand Bay.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Portage?
I enjoy the people the most. There is a great culture at UP Health System – Portage and I look forward to the years ahead.
