What is your role at UPHS – Bell?
I'm a receptionist with UP Health System – Bell Family Medicine.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I’ve always wanted to be part of the support system that helps people access the care they need. Being able to guide patients through that process and make it a little easier for them is what drew me to healthcare.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Every day is a little different, but my focus is always on supporting both patients and my team. I step in where I’m needed most to help keep things running smoothly and make sure everyone feels taken care of. It can be fast-paced, but it’s very rewarding.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
This June will mark three years. While my primary role is in family medicine reception, I also help cover other areas and assist with referral teams when needed.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
We’ve made improvements to provider scheduling to help reduce interruptions in patient care, and we’ve also seen stronger management support for ideas that improve clinic workflow. Those changes have made a positive impact on both patients and staff.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Outside of work, I enjoy getting lost in fiction and fantasy books. One of my favorite local spots is Blossom Bird Bubble Tea—it’s my go-to for a sweet treat.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Bell?
I love working with my coworkers. They bring a lot of positivity and humor to the day, which makes even the more challenging moments easier to get through.
