What is your role at UPHS – Portage?
I am a team coordinator for our elder associates at PortagePointe.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
Ever since I was young, I have watched my mom do the job she loves in healthcare. That inspired me to give it a try. I have loved it since.
What's a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
I do a little bit of everything. I support nurses and doctors on the floor, and I also schedule appointments for our elders.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been here almost 4 years come July. I have been a CNA for 3 years, and back in July, I became a team coordinator.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
What I have experienced as big changes is how much actually goes into making a place work. When I worked on the floor, I never knew how much happens behind the scenes. Now that I am a team coordinator, I get to see all the little things that make PortagePointe such a wonderful place to work.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love to sew, crochet, knit, and hang out with my friends. My favorite local gem is Yooper Lighting. I have recently discovered this, and it's one of my favorite things to do in the summer.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Portage?
I enjoy working with all my coworkers and spending time with our elders.
