What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a clinical office clerk at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I was inspired to pursue a career in health care to help people and make a positive impact. Showing someone a smiling face when they walk in can help lighten a patient’s mood.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
No two days are the same. I check patients in, schedule appointments, help patients who walk in, answer phone calls, and assist with numerous tasks. There’s never a dull moment.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I worked in Food and Nutrition at the old hospital for six years. I then took a position in Family Medicine for two years and have now been with Heart and Vascular for the past five years.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
One change I experienced was moving from smaller Family Medicine clinics to the Heart and Vascular office.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I enjoy baking, spending time with my dogs, being with my family, riding my bike in the summer and painting. Marquette has many enjoyable places to visit, so I don’t have a specific favorite.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
Working with the amazing team at Heart and Vascular. We think of each other like family and strive to provide the best care for our patients.
