UPHS – Marquette Heroes | Lisa Gauthier

What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?

I am the Patient Safety Report (PSR) Supervisor at UP Health System – Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

What inspired me to work in healthcare is the opportunity to help people feel better—inside and out.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

No two days are the same in my role. I schedule all incoming new patients and help guide them through the surgical process.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

With 30 years at UP Health System across multiple offices, I now work at the UP Bariatric Institute, where I plan to retire.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?

The biggest change I’ve seen over the years is insurance. It keeps changing, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

Some of my interests outside of work include spending time with my grandkids and enjoying our camp. I also love hunting, hiking, and exploring. My favorite local spot has to be Sugar Loaf—the view is absolutely beautiful.

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?

What I enjoy most about working at UP Health System are my co-workers and the patients I meet along the way.
