What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?

I am a patient service representative supervisor at UP Health System – Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

I have always had a strong interest in the medical field. Healthcare is both challenging and rewarding, and I enjoy the opportunity to learn new things.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

I supervise our reception staff and oversee front office operations, focusing on patient care, staff training and resolving any issues that arise throughout the day.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

I have been with Surgical Associates of Marquette for 28 years. I started as a receptionist, later transitioned into billing, and worked alongside our nursing staff as a medical assistant. In September 2025, Surgical Associates of Marquette was acquired by UP Health System – Marquette, at which time I stepped into my current role as PSR Supervisor.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?

Transitioning from a private office to a much larger healthcare system has brought some challenges. However, as I continue learning my new role, operations are running more smoothly.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and our furbabies. My hobbies include quilting and gardening. Presque Isle is one of my favorite local spots to visit.

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?

In the short time we have been with UP Health System, I have found management and staff from other departments to be very welcoming and supportive. Everyone has been extremely helpful as I learn my new role, and I look forward to what the future holds.
