UPHS – Bell Heroes | Brenda Caudry

What is your role at UP Health System?
I'm a Physical Therapist at UP
Health System – Bell.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I am passionate about movement.
I want to inspire and rehab others to allow them to enjoy movement and to be
able to do their daily and recreational activities without pain or limitation.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
I work primarily in an
outpatient setting, treating a wide range of conditions. I see individuals of
varying ages and diagnoses. I examine a patient to determine their impairments
and come up with a program to treat their specific impairments to help them
accomplish their goals and improve their pain.
In an inpatient setting, I help
determine what is the best and safest option for discharging a patient. I also
help patients improve their safety and independence with all functional
mobility tasks in order to safely discharge home.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been an employee since
June 2025. I started my career here in August of 2022. I did travel physical
therapy for a little bit and eventually came back to the UP!
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
I haven’t experienced a whole
lot of big changes in this position yet. However, there has been a bigger push
to trial conservative treatment and preventative therapy before surgical or
pharmaceutical intervention for some conditions.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love spending time with my
family, enjoying the outdoors, and hiking near Lake Superior. My favorite beach
is Little Presque.
What do you enjoy most about working at UP Health System?
I love getting to work for a small town hospital and community. After working travel jobs, it is so nice to be back in the UP.
