UP Health System – Marquette Neurosurgery Physician Assistant Morgan Peters Honored with Julianne Kirkham Award

Morgan Peters, PA in Neurosurgery at UP Health System – Marquette (UPHS – Marquette), has been selected as the latest recipient of the Dr. Julianne Kirkham Award. This award recognizes exemplary employees within the support and ancillary departments who clearly see—and act on—their purpose in supporting the care of our patients and community.

Since joining UPHS – Marquette just a few short years ago, Morgan has demonstrated exceptional dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Her ability to balance clinical expertise with genuine empathy has made a meaningful impact not only on the patients she serves but also on the morale and well-being of her coworkers. Colleagues praise her kindness, her calm and positive presence, and her unwavering commitment to excellence in every interaction.

Morgan was nominated for her remarkable patient care and her consistent willingness to go above and beyond. Whether she is taking extra time to comfort a patient, supporting a teammate during a challenging day, or stepping in to help manage an overwhelming patient load, Morgan approaches each situation with grace, positivity, and compassion. She has quickly become an essential member of the Neurosurgery team, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.

Her nominator shared a deeply personal reflection on the impact Morgan made during one of the most difficult moments of their life:

About the Dr. Julianne Kirkham Award

Named in honor of Dr. Julianne Kirkham, this award pays tribute to those who, like Dr. Kirkham, believe that our own lives become better as we work to improve the lives of others. Dr. Kirkham cared deeply for every patient she encountered throughout her career. She was a gifted educator and a fierce advocate for patients during their most difficult times. Her warmth, compassion, intellect, sense of justice, and brilliant sense of humor made her an extraordinary physician and colleague.

Dr. Kirkham passed away unexpectedly in 2020. Her courage, generosity, and dedication to creating positive change continue to inspire all who knew her. To honor her legacy, UP Health System – Marquette established this award to recognize individuals who embody her spirit and commitment to patient-centered care.

Recipients of the Dr. Julianne Kirkham Award are selected quarterly by a hospital committee based on nominations submitted by staff.
