What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?

I am a registered nurse case manager at UP Health System-Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

My mother and grandmother were nurses for this same facility, which led me to want to work here. My grandfather was a medical doctor, so I grew up surrounded by healthcare professionals. 

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

A typical day usually involves triaging the needs of patients on my caseload to ensure a safe and appropriate discharge, allowing for success and support in their preferred setting. We do a lot of education and advocacy work for patients during their stay with us as well. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

I have been working as an RN case manager since April 2021 and have held the same position throughout those years. 

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem? 

My husband and I recently started our own little homestead on the outskirts of the county, raising our four children and menagerie of animals in nature and growing our own food. One of our favorite things about the UP definitely would be the amazing waterfalls and hikes. 

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?

I enjoy the great relationships and family feel amongst all the professionals involved in the care of our patients. It truly feels like my home away from home.
