What is your role at UP Health System - Bell
I'm a Family Medicine Receptionist.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I wanted a job close to home, but soon I realized I enjoyed helping people.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Answering phone calls, addressing patient cases, and a number of other tasks. Working in this role some days can be challenging but so rewarding when I can help patients.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I started working at Bell with Dr. Tobin, back in 1995. I have mostly been a receptionist, but I also did work with medical records.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
The biggest changes and challenges for me have been navigating the different computer programs. There's been a lot of technological change over the years, but you have to move and adapt.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Spending time with my husband, kids, and grandkids. Camping, walking, and hiking. I love being outdoors. We also enjoy going to different restaurants with friends. There's a lot that the UP has to offer.
What do you enjoy most about working at UP Health System?
Having co-workers who are always willing to help. The people have always been the best part about it.
