What is your role at UP Health System?

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

I took this position to do my part to help make our community healthier.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

I start every day by cleaning the Emergency Department and doing whatever is necessary to assist the staff with their needs. Every day can be different, so that keeps it interesting. The remainder of my day consists of going through several other departments as well as various public areas of the hospital. I am also available for anything else that may require attention.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

I have been in this position for the past five years. It's never boring.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?

I started at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly learned to be open to learning new things on a daily basis. I have also gained a greater appreciation for the dedication of the medical staff that we have here.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

I love doing a number of outdoor activities, so the Copper Country is my playground! I enjoy getting out in my kayak or taking a hike around our local waterfalls whenever possible. I am also a huge hockey fan, so you are likely to find me catching a game at any of our local rinks.
