UP Health System – Portage welcomes obstetrician and gynecologist Devyn Dempsey, DO

HANCOCK, Mich. (Sept. 17, 2025) — UP Health System – Portage (UPHS – Portage) is pleased to welcome Devyn Dempsey, DO, an obstetrician and gynecologist, to its women’s health team. Dr. Dempsey provides comprehensive care for women across all stages of life, including prenatal care, trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC), routine gynecologic care, cervical cancer screening, contraception management (including long-acting reversible contraception such as IUDs), minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, menopausal management with hormone replacement therapy, and treatment for urogynecologic concerns such as pelvic organ prolapse.

Obstetricians and gynecologists specialize in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting women’s reproductive health, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, infertility, and gynecologic cancers. They also offer essential services, such as prenatal care, childbirth support, and preventive screenings, including Pap smears and mammograms.

Dr. Dempsey completed her OB/GYN residency at McLaren Greater Lansing, where she served as chief resident. She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing and her bachelor’s degree in biology with an emphasis in physiology from Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

“I completed my undergraduate training at Northern Michigan University and fell in love with the Upper Peninsula,” said Dr. Dempsey. “After several years of training in mid-Michigan, I feel fortunate to return to such a beautiful and unique region. It is a privilege to provide care for women throughout the many stages of life, and I look forward to building meaningful, trusted relationships with my patients.”

Outside of work, Dr. Dempsey enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their dog. She loves hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing and practicing yoga. She also enjoys cooking, baking and trying new cuisine.
