UPHS – Marquette Heroes | Morgan Kowalski, RN

September 11, 2025

What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?

I am a registered nurse on the medical/surgical floor at UPHS – Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

I got into healthcare because I wanted to positively impact people’s lives during a time when they need it the most. A career in nursing offered me that.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

There’s no “typical” day in my unit. During my shift, I provide patient care, pass medications and chart for my patients. Being a nurse is a stressful yet extremely rewarding career.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I got my first nursing job out of school on my unit and have been on the night shift for five years now.

What are some of the big changes you've experienced in this position?

The biggest change I’ve experienced here is transitioning to a new electronic charting system. Another big change came during the COVID pandemic.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

Outside of work, I enjoy running, reading and fishing. I also love to spend time with friends and family. My favorite local gem in Marquette is definitely Blackrocks Brewery.

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?

The absolute best part of my job is the people I work with! There’s no way I could make it through my shifts without them!
