What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a Certified Medical Assistant in Neurology at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I really enjoy helping people and the healthcare field has many opportunities to do so.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
A typical day mainly involves rooming patients for the providers and preparing charts for future appointments.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been employed here for 22 years. I spent the first 10 years in Environmental Services, then seven years in Patient Transport, and the last five years in the Brain and Spine department.
What are some of the significant changes you have experienced in this position?
One big change was when we switched our electronic medical records from Practice Partner to Athena.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my wife, the outdoors and playing/watching sports.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
A lot of patients are nervous or worried about coming to their appointments, so I enjoy the fact that every day all of us have the opportunity to help a patient/family feel more at ease.
