What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a Security Access Analyst in the Information Technology (IT) department at UP Health System – Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I actually started out with an interest in coding and medical records and then decided to pursue a second degree in Information Systems.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
I wouldn’t really say any day is typical it’s ever-changing with new challenges all the time. A lot of my responsibility includes setting up access, creating email accounts for new hires as well as assisting users who are having issues with their current accounts.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I started out working at the IT Help Desk in December 2015 before moving into my current position.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position
We are currently in the middle of the move from our local security and IT to the national LifePoint network, which has been a complex process. One of the biggest tasks was updating all of our users to a new ID system. While most users have been updated, there are still a number of tasks needed to complete before we can officially complete the move.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Kayaking and biking. I love the fact that Marquette has these great bike paths along the water. We have some excellent local eateries in Marquette but Lagniappe is one of my favorite local gems.

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
My coworkers who make up the IT team that I work with are phenomenal and dedicated to helping our fellow employees succeed in their daily work. I really enjoy the dynamic nature of the work in IT, giving me a chance to learn new skills.
