UPHS – Bell Heroes | Pheobe Prusi, Certified Medical Assistant

April 15, 2021

What is your title and inspiration for working at UPHS – Bell?
My title is Certified Medical Assistant. The continuous learning urges me to be inspired to learn about life. It is very fascinating for me to learn so many things, and it is never ending learning.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been employed by Bell since February of 2021. I was transferred from the Marquette Clinic and worked there for over 4 years. I have always been a Certified Medical Assistant since I was hired in Marquette.

What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me is a very fast paced environment. Rooming patients, taking calls, cleaning rooms, giving immunizations, educating parents and patients, sending medications, and so much more!

Tell us a little bit about your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
My family is highly into kayaking, hiking, spending time in our backyard and spending time with family. We love to travel as well, and to cook and eat as a family. My favorite local gem is going to Copper Harbor, but there are so many places here in the UP that are beautiful!

What are some of the big changes you have experiences in this position? One of the biggest change that I can say is the change of EMR. It is an adjustment as the EMR is one of the biggest tools I use at my job. Another is being in a pandemic. It has impacted all of us, and especially health care workers, as there have been changes on a daily basis.

What is your favorite part about working for UPHS – Bell?
I enjoy my coworkers, which I really think helps me enjoy my job! It makes a bit difference when my coworkers are so helpful, fun and very knowledgeable too!
