Retail Manager for Food and Nutrition Services at UP Health System – Marquette

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I’ve been in management and customer service roles for over 20 years. The opportunity presented itself to work in healthcare doing what I love and it ended up being the perfect fit for my life.  

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field? 
Every day is different but one thing that is constant is making sure I’m there for my team members. My typical daily duties include anything from preparing food, overseeing the patient trayline, making sure our nutrition guidelines are met, and working alongside my team to ensure quality service to our patients, employees, and guests. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position? 
I have been with UP Health System – Marquette for 12 years now.  

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
With the latest food and nutrition guidelines, we are adapting to continue to provide inventive ways to offer a variety of meal options and keep familiar choices. My team and I want to bring the most heartfelt and welcoming atmosphere to our cafeteria. 

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love spending time with my family and being outdoors. I enjoy reading and cooking and hanging with my bestie – my mom.  

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette? 
I love interacting and building relationships with our customers. I love my team. They are an amazing group of people to work with. I get the pleasure of laughing with them every day.
