UPHS – Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to welcome Katerina Fellers, PA-C, to its Family Medicine team. She and her husband Andrew Fellers, MD join Ashly Ellis, FNP at the family medicine clinic located in Avery Square.

Katerina earned her Masters of Physician Studies at Kettering College, where she also received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and was Summa Cum Laude. Recently, she worked as an Emergency Physician Assistant at Elkhart Emergency; her tasks included providing emergency and urgent care needs, as well as managing patients in the observation unit to provide ongoing care and diagnostic work.

“I feel strongly about ensuring access to health care and am excited to join the UP Health System team in order to broaden patients’ access to primary care across the UP,” she said. “I believe in whole person care: addressing physical, mental and emotional needs of the individual. Patients deserve access to quality, compassionate care and reliable information to assist them in making decisions for their health.”

Katerina joins a Family Medicine team that is dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare for the UP’s family, friends and neighbors. UPHS – Sault Ste. Marie offers a full-spectrum of primary care services including annual physical exams, well-child exams, pediatrics, geriatrics, women’s health, minor outpatient surgery, allergy injections, diabetes education, nutrition counseling and more.

“I feel that the most compelling part of being a medical provider is building the patient-provider relationship and interaction,” Katerina said. “Establishing that relationship on open communication and trust is important in meeting the health goals of a patient.”

Outside of practicing medicine, Katerina is an avid backpacker and long-distance hiker.
