Magseed® Marker
A wire-free option for breast lesion localization
Traditional wire localization can complicate breast procedures. Wires placed on the day of surgery may shift and cause discomfort. Magseed® localization offers a simpler, wire-free option, reducing surgery-day hassle and supporting precise, breast-conserving treatment.
What Is Magseed?
Magseed is a tiny magnetic marker, smaller than a grain of rice. It is placed into a breast lesion or lymph node for precise extraction. Using imaging guidance, it can be implanted days to months before surgery without risk of migration.
During surgery, the care team uses a handheld magnetic probe to detect the seed. This allows the surgeon to pinpoint the exact area that needs to be removed, often making the procedure less invasive and more comfortable than traditional wire-guided methods.
Benefits of Magseed Marking
The Magseed marker supports breast-conserving surgery by marking small or hard-to-feel areas, so the surgeon can remove them in one piece. This accuracy allows the surgeon to take out only the tissue that needs to be removed while preserving healthy breast tissue. It offers:
- Improved accuracy in locating lesions
- Precise tissue removal
- Flexible scheduling – no day-of-surgery wire placement
- Reduced patient discomfort and anxiety
- No external wires
- No wire movement or displacement
When Magseed Is Used
Magseed offers practical benefits to patients and care teams, helping ensure accurate and personalized care. It is used for:
- Early-stage breast cancer
- Suspicious lesions requiring surgical removal
- Lymph node detection
