Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program Welcomes Six New Residents

The newest class of family medicine residents has arrived at the UP Health System – Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program. The program welcomed the six new physicians through an introductory month of orientation.

“We are thrilled to welcome this exceptional group of residents to the Marquette Family Medicine Residency,” said Program Director Suzanne Clarke, MD. “We are looking forward to guiding and supporting them as they develop into dedicated and highly competent family physicians over the next three years.”

Each year, the residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program, which places applicants into residency and fellowship positions based on mutual rankings.

Residents received their degrees from the following medical schools:

The UPHS – Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program is an unopposed, community-based, three-year training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, with osteopathic recognition following the American Board of Family Medicine guidelines. Graduates of the program are qualified to manage the full scope of family medicine.

“This new class brings fresh energy, curiosity and a commitment to caring for our community,” said Associate Program Director Meredith Buck, MD. “We’re honored to guide them as they grow into compassionate, rural-ready family physicians.”

Established in 1979, the mission of the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program is to train compassionate, well-rounded allopathic and osteopathic physicians to serve as pillars of health in underserved communities—combining clinical excellence with a deep understanding of rural health care challenges and opportunities. To date, 240 resident physicians have graduated from the program. Training takes place at UPHS – Marquette in both clinic and hospital settings, as well as other locations throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The Class of 2025, recent graduates of the program, includes Cecil Brown, MD; Zachary Greenlee, MD; Gabrielle McGrath, MD; Erin McKenzie, MD; Sarah Naracon, MD; and Russell Reeves, MD.

About the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program
The UP Health System – Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program works in conjunction with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, UP Health Education Corporation, to coordinate the training of Family Medicine residents, MSU College of Human Medicine, UP Campus medical students, and MSU Psychiatry UP Rural Track residents. Since its inception, 240 family medicine residents, six psychiatry residents, and 362 medical students have graduated from the programs.
