What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?

I am a clinic office clerk at UP Health System – Marquette. 

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare? 

I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula, however, I moved to a small rural town in Alabama back in 1991 and it was there that I was introduced to the healthcare setting. I moved back home to Marquette in 2023 and started here at UPHS. 

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

My typical day is mostly office work — scanning, prepping charts and answering the phone. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

Just over a year. Yes, I have been in the same position. 

What are some of the big changes you've experienced in this position?

I haven't experienced any changes yet, being fairly new to the company. 

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my family, whether it’s going out to my brother’s camp, watching football with the family or just hanging out. 

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette? 

Coming back to Marquette after so long has been an adjustment for sure, but from day one my coworkers have made me feel like part of the team/family and I am very grateful for that.
